We started in 1989 getting 22 people together trying to enjoy football a little differently. A program was purchased (Franchise Football League)and we started watching football a little closer. The league purchased new programs in 1990,1995 and 2000, making it closer to owning a franchise without paying for one. Starting our third year, the owners got together to make a rule book. We hoped it would be a solid base for years to come. Thanks to the owners from the beginning to the present because, without your help and cooperation football Sunday's would not be the same. This with special thanks to the original owners: Bill Heilenbach, Brian Stratton, Scott Stratton, Rich Bryjak, Mike Stasch, Paul Woolmer, Gary Zirkle, Bill Mittelstaedt, John Nettleton, Rick Stasch, Al Stasch, Joe Ambrose, Herb Mueller, Jeff Stasch, Bob Stratton, Paul Hobe, Tom Follin, Matt Stasch, Ed Stasch, Don Mueller, Ken Stratton and Mark Stasch. To the owners who followed: Bob Jakubowski, Dan Kelly, Rob Stratton, Ralph Blanco, Terry Sexton, Terry Mattia, Tom Archer, Darryl Hicks, Joe Mattia, Charlie Nettleton, Ray Baldwin, Mike Altobelli, Terry Turen, Gary Pleger, Steve Pleger, Dwayne Wargo, Tom Roth, John Jacobs, Steve Smagaz, Marc Lucente, Tony Lucente, Neil Mularkey, David Speedwell, Bob Cooney, G Quinlivan, Danny Parrot, Terry Mattia Jr, Pat Kling, Brian Boston, Chris Stratton, Matt Cunningham, Ed Hayes, Mike Lucente, George Leedle, Matt Soraci, Adam Ottmar, Steve Cohen and Ryan Leedle. 1989
The idea for a fantasy football league was born. The program was purchased and twelve teams were founded. There were twenty-two owners in all. Of the twenty-two owners, sixteen were somehow related to another team owner. The first draft was held on a warm night in August on a back porch in Elmhurst, Illinois. The program had a built in stats download that did not work properly. The software company recommended CSW for the scoring. The stat services was used from 1989 until the end of the 1999 season. Little did we know what we actually started and how long it would last.
1990
A new software program was purchased. Statmaster Football 3.0 from TNA. Head to Head competition began and the basic scoring rules today were established with some rules from 1989 also included. They were double points and starting lineup setup. Divisions were set, East, Central and West. The divisions were pulled from a hat. The first Super Bowl began with the division winners and a wildcard team. They redrafted from the NFL playoff teams. Follin-San Francisco folded and was taken over by TnT.
1991
Owners met to write a rule book so everyone knew how the league was run. Some made up rules as we went along. League records were now being kept with the first two years included. R's Rhino's and Gunslingers tied with Gunslingers winning by the tie breaker. This was the Gunslingers third title in a row. One, overall and two divisions. Two new teams entered the league. Gronksters for Ames Eagles and Predators for S&H Titans. Divisions were reselected and a league MVP was started.
1992
The computer was lost and league headquarters were moved. Hardest stat season to date.Stats had to be completed by hand using the newspaper and put in a spread sheet. The computer I used, the spread sheet was the best it could do. For the first time the divisions remained the same and are the same to this day(2010,changed in 2011). A maximum of three players were added to a taxi squad to help with the bye weeks. Bruise Brothers took over for the Gronksters. Bruise Brothers and CS Maggots win by the tie breaker. CS Maggots are the only team to win with an under 500 record(8-9-0). Gunslingers won for the fourth year in a row. The Super Bowl format changed and included all owners to draft rosters. After the NFL Super Bowl was over,a week later, the first league banquet was held.
1993
The NFL went to a 18 week schedule with each team getting two bye weeks. The newsletter and team logo's began. Most of the records were lost in a basement flood. Gunslingers won for the fifth time, Bruise Brothers a second and Predators a first. Damage Inc took over for the No Names franchise.
