NFL - Kirk is a well-built, mentally tough slot target whose game is built around pace more than explosiveness. His lack of speed and length make him less likely to impact games down the field, but his footwork, route tempo and hands should give him an opportunity to find catches underneath. Kirk's ability to help in the return game is a plus, but the difference between average and good as a receiver could depend on finding the right fit. -Lance Zierlein
Steve Smith: Captain Kirk is a tone-setter, can line up anywhere on the field and can do everything a coach asks based on his physical ability. Honestly, the kid could be great at quarterback if that's where he wanted to play. At Texas A&M, Kirk played in a non-traditional system. The question I have is can he line up across an A.J. Bouye and beat him in press coverage? He's never been put in that position, so there are questions about if he can thrive in a traditional pro-style offense. I also want to see him catch the ball more consistently with his hands (and less with his body). Today's DBs are too good and make a play on the ball long before it reaches the receiver's body.
CBS - Slot receiver with flashes of elite top-end speed, just not consistent in that department. Not a major yards-after-the-catch threat. Underneath option with the ability to make difficult catches.
DLF - PROJECTED ROOKIE DRAFT RANGE Kirk is being selected around late round one or early round two range at the moment. He’s right in the same sort of place as his contemporaries Michael Gallup, Courtland Sutton, James Washington, Anthony Miller and Dante Pettis. I definitely like Kirk more than Washington or Pettis who are both going to be more deep threats than possession receivers, but you can easily make a case for Kirk and the others being in any order. If you love him, you’ll need to burn a first rounder but if you’re a little more sanguine then seeing if he falls into round two makes a lot of sense to me. He’s not going to walk onto your team and dominate from day one but he does have a fantastic chance to grow into a top playmaker who’s linked at the hip to a hot young quarterback.
