DLF - Yuck. Johnston possesses what could be the draft's highest ceiling due to his combination of speed and agility but focus drops and route-tree immaturity remain question marks. Combine that with a selection by New England, who hasn't had a noteworthy receiver in years, and Johnston could fall to dynasty's rookie draft WR3 or lower. By all accounts, Johnston had a fine combine performance, leaping more than 40" in his vertical, 11'2" in his broad jump but opted not to run the 40. Should the upside rookie not run his 40 at TCU's pro day, more question marks could arise. Johnston is listed as DLF's WR2 behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

NFL - “He’s got some freak (athleticism) in him and will test great, but the hands are a concern for me.” -- Area scout for NFC team

DLF - Johnston was taken by the Chargers with the 21st overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. This is a solid landing spot for Johnston, though dynasty managers will need to be patient as he will slot behind both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams for the foreseeable future. Johnston looks like a bit of a luxury pick at this point but dynasty managers will take it as he'll be tied long-term to Justin Herbert. There's real long-term upside here with Johnston and he has the looks of a mid-first round pick in the dynasty rookie drafts as one of the safer picks of the year.
