NFL - Prototypical combination of size and skill-set as an every-down runner with the ability to slash or impose his will on any given snap. Jacobs runs with good bend, vision and burst, and he proved to be an effective pass-catcher out of the backfield or from the slot. He will probe and burst, but he could become more elusive with better tempo as a runner. Jacobs is a decisive runner with outstanding one-cut talent to become a bellcow lead back.
DLF - Jacobs’ Alabama teammate Damien Harris seems like a safe but somewhat underwhelming prospect. Jacobs is quite a bit riskier and doesn’t have the college production to show for it, but his ceiling could be higher. Will Jacobs’ average athleticism cause NFL teams to drop him into the second or third round? Or will his vision and running style make teams go all in for him?
Draft Sharks - Checking boxes for size, elusiveness and receiving ability, Jacobs is widely regarded as the #1 back in this class. He's coming off a healthy 2018, while his overall lack of touches should help his longevity. We'll see how he tests at Alabama's Pro Day, but anticipate strong marks in the agility drills and a 40-time perhaps under 4.50. (didn't happen)
CBS - Compactly built, one-cut-and-explodes type runner who excels at setting up blocks. Jacobs is difficult to bring down with initial contact he his speed affords him the ability to bounce plays outside -- though he doesn't force it. He runs hard, with purpose, is an efficient pass blocker, shows good hands as a receiver and can also return kicks. He's the best running back in this class and it's not close
