NFL - Natural athlete with good size who finds ways to get open through burst and athletic ability. Gallup has posted outstanding production during his two years in the Mountain West at Colorado State, but his level of play took a dip in his matchup against Alabama early in the season. Gallup is still a little raw, but is quickly fine-tuning his game and may have the ability to become a good WR2 in the league.
Steve Smith: Gallup, a.k.a. "Big Smooth," has a PhD in route running. The 6-1 wideout has great body control and can out-jump defenders regularly. He's a well-rounded receiver whose smooth movements make it seem like he's bored when he isn't directly involved in the game (I can't say I blame him). That could hinder his stock.
CBS - Smart, nuanced pass-catcher. Effortless beating press at the line and clicking into top gear. Strong hands. Can win on throws outside is frame. Plus agility with the ball in his hands. Will make defenders miss. Likely Top 50 pick.
DLF - PROJECTED RANGE FOR A ROOKIE DRAFT An early second to late first selection. According to both the consensus rankings and May’s Rookie ADP data, Michael Gallup is the 13th player off the board in rookie drafts at the moment. He is being drafted behind D.J. Moore, Calvin Ridley, Courtland Sutton and Christian Kirk as the rookie WR5. However, he walks into a better situation than all but two of those players in terms of available opportunity, at least in year one. Given his potential to be the most productive rookie of the class, he’s a very nice value.
