Comparing a player’s athletic traits to past and current NFL players
from DLF
DLF: Perine did well at the combine. He’s not a homerun hitter, so it wasn’t a surprise that he came away with a 4.65 40-yard dash, but his 40-time is pretty remarkable when compared it to his size. Mass plus velocity equals force and Perine has the ability to generate a lot force at the point of contact. He managed to push out 30-reps on the bench press, equating to a 425-pound max bench press. Daniel Thomas is a player that compares to him that had a run at fantasy relevancy at the NFL level. Perine was hyper productive in college and should outshine the other two players on this list.

Yahoo Sports: 9. Samaje Perine, Oklahoma — 5-11, 233 — Remember Michael “The Burner” Turner? That’s whose game Perine reminds us of

NFL Analysis: Big, brusing power back who can grind with the best of them but won't "wow" you with a ton of game-breaking highlight plays (though he put enough on tape). Good balance into the second level to bounce off of hits and drag arm tacklers for extra yards, but lacks the quick cuts and wiggle that push backs into another tier. Showed soft hands at the Combine and limited receiving opportunities at Oklahoma (40 carreer receptions in three seasons). His longest rushing touchdown in 2016 was nine yards, but had five of 20-plus in 2015. Long speed and agility scores will likely push him to Day 3 in the NFL Draft, but he could be the type of late-round value who finds early success in the NFL, akin to Jordan Howard and Alfred Morris.

DRAFT ANALYSIS: Washington ranked 29th in red zone TD efficiency in 2016. Perine can help with that conversion rate and has the ability to emerge as a spot-starter for the Redskins. --Mark Dulgerian
