NFL - In a draft that feels light on high-end talent, Hockenson is an ascending talent with a chance to become one of the best all-around tight ends in the game. He should continue to fill out his athletic frame, but he's already a sound in-line blocker with the toughness to sustain and finish. His above-average athleticism and separation burst will help him win against linebackers while his body control and hands give him an advantage over safeties. Hockenson has standout talent and fits any scheme, but he could be coveted early by teams looking to delve more heavily in 12-personnel (two TE packages).

Pro personnel director for NFC team - "Freaky athlete. I thought he would go back, but I'm glad he didn't. I think he will beat Alabama (Irv Smith, Jr.) off the board first."

DLF - TJ Hockenson has a rare prospect profile. Because tight ends effectively have to master the technique of both offensive tackles and wide receivers, it takes much longer for them to develop. However, after spending just three years in college, Hockenson has no below-average skills. Once eligible, he started producing immediately, despite playing in a crowded tight end group. Although he’s undersized, Hockenson is the best run blocker in this tight end draft class.

Draft Sharks - Hockenson can do everything the position asks and fit any system. He already blocks well enough for 3-down duty, and he can work as a receiver at any level. Is he a finished product? Of course not. But he’s a whole lot closer than many other TEs who have come out -- even predecessors who went high in Round 1.

Prospect Comments - CBS - Young, dynamic pass-catching option with the athleticism and speed to threaten the seam and make catches well outside his frame. Immense leg churn as a blocker and very accurate finding linebackers in space. Probably needs to add more strength at the next level to control defensive ends at the point of attack, but is arguably the most exciting, new-age tight end to enter the league over the past few drafts
