Comparing a player’s athletic traits to past and current NFL players
from DLF
DLF: There aren’t any players who compare to Fournette, which makes him an outlier when compared to most running backs in the league. His size and speed is going to make him a nightmare to bring down in the open field for linebackers and defensive backs at the next level.
Yahoo Sports: 1. Leonard Fournette, LSU — 6-foot, 240 pounds — Even with limitations in the passing game and injury concerns, he’s a rare size-speed prospect who seeks to blast through defenders at full steam
NFL Overview: There's no timeline in which Fournette is not a first-round pick. While opinions on how tranformational he can be still vary, he's going to be an extremely popular pick in all formats. Fournette is the definition of a downhill runner with good speed and extremely physical who is a nightmare to tackle with a head of steam. His skill as a pass-catcher will be a knock on him, though he wasn't asked to do it very much at LSU. Whether he's a first-round fantasy redraft pick (a la Ezekiel Elliot in 2016) depends on which NFL team drafts him. But there's no doubt that he will be a top 3 pick in all dynasty rookie drafts.
DRAFT ANALYSIS: "He's the most angry running back I've seen since Adrian Peterson. ... The Jaguars have good tailbacks, but this guy's a difference maker. ... The question on him is is he in the game on third down?" -- Mike Mayock
